To extend the life of the battery in your laptop computer you should drain the battery all the way down once a month and then recharge it back up to 100%. I can't tell you the technical reasons for doing this, only that the people whose technical expertise I trust the most have all given me this advice.

They say it will extend the life of your battery by several months.
