Another Way To Stop Junk Mail
If you use the Mail app to view your email, check this out.

Open Mail. Select Mail > Preferences > Junk Mail. Check to see if you have a check in the box next to "Sender of message is in my Previous Recipients". If you are not using Snow Leopard, look for something similar.

If you have a check in that box, you may be allowing unknown email addresses to be added to your Previous Recipients list, which in turn, allows junk mail to come into your mail account. Keep in mind that 85% of all email today is junk mail.

If you do have a check in that box, you can uncheck it, and you can also remove any unwanted email addresses from your list of Previous Recipients list. You may be quite shocked at how many you find.

With Mail open, select Window > Previous Recipients. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the list where you may find a list of email addresses with no names associated with them -- addresses that you do not recognize. Most of these are legitimate addresses that have been abducted by spammers. Delete them and you will eliminate that avenue into your mail boxes.
